Strengthen your leadership through vulnerability … Cont’d…
Guarded leaders are highly recognizable. They are busy, aloof, impersonal, cold, and distant from genuine relationships. Authentic leaders who regularly practice vulnerability are recognizable by the cultures they embody. People are inspired to follow them because at a deep level they feel connected to, validated, seen…by those that they look to for leadership. Think about it, who in your world has inspired you.
Who are you when no one is looking? If there was a hidden camera tracking you 24/7 would YOU be ok with what was on the screen? Vulnerability exposes for the sake of humility, courage, authenticity, trust, grace. It is the deep connecting with another’s humanity because you see you are not alone. Definitely risky, and absolutely requires courage. And yes, you will have a “vulnerability hangover” as researcher and author Brene Brown describes. That’s because when you expose yourself mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationally…not everyone will receive it. The people that matter will. Those that don’t matter, will judge you and condemn you, but that’s ok, those aren’t the people you want on your bus anyway.
Here’s some of my story, to make it personal:

1. What holds you back in your own life from sharing your heart, your ideas, your passion?
2. If you were to risk and be vulnerable, and it went well, what would be different in your life? Your relationships?
