Wholeness focuses on assisting leaders to have healthy relationships with God, themselves, and others. Too often leaders, especially those serving in ministry as pastor’s choose not to seek help because of a variety of reasons. We are intimately familiar with the need for leaders to have a safe, confidential, and respectful environment in which they can ‘air out’ their concerns, challenges, hurts, frustrations, and failures. Without such a redemptive relationship of trust, leaders slowly callous themselves to maintaining a compartmentalized life — secrets, regrets, guilt, shame, addictions, you name it….
As leaders in ministry, we have personally walked this journey of brokenness, forgiveness, vulnerability, restoration, reconciliation, and hope. The church in general as a community, is missing the boat in this area. Too often “fallen” pastors or leaders are shuffled off the sidelines (and out of the building…) quietly. Not only does this reinforce the stereotypes that the ‘church shoot’s it’s wounded’, but it wounds the spouse, family, and community. When restoration is redefined, incorrectly, to anything other than ‘returning to a right relationship’, then all involved suffer and miss out on the blessing that occur through grace and transformation.
Healing and freedom are possible. It takes an enormous amount of courage for leaders to ask for help, especially those within the ministry. Most do not ‘come clean’ on their own, but are found out as their lies come crashing in on them. Reality, is the greatest denial lifter there is. As pastor Rick Warren states, “God whispers to us in our pleasure, but shouts to us in our pain.”
Wholeness coaching exists to step into the gap, and assist leaders, pastors, churches, and organizations not only pick up the pieces when these events occur…but redeem them by the power of God’s transformative grace.
